Walter Röhrl - rear view mirror: My career in pictures
Walter Röhrl - rear view mirror: My Career in Pictures (Hardcover) - (by Reinhard Klein Author, Editor), Wilfried Müller (Author), Thomas Senn (Author)
Walter Röhrl, World Rally Champion in 1980 and 1982, remains one of Germany's most popular sportsmen, even years after retiring from professional motor racing. Several of his battles and achievements, like being a four-time Rallye Monte Carlo winner, riding the 550 hp-cannonball Audi Quattro or demoralizing his opponents with unbelivable stage times, have become legends. Röhrl still enjoys a high reputation as an authority in sports car questions and as a person who calls a spade a spade. After having released his memories in 2002 in the book Diary", he now presents his new illustrated book "Rückspiegel" (English: rearview mirror) on the occasion of his 60th birthday. 256 pages with more than 300 mostly unpublished photographies show dramatic, cheerful and horrifying moments of his career.
The first chapter features Röhrls life as it is today: It's about family, friendships, the fascinating work as a test driver and representative of Porsche, it's about the aging of a highly competitve athlete. In his foreword Walter Röhrl tells the readers about the historic picture-work: To the younger ones amongst you the historic sport might seem adventurous, dangerous, wild, even insane. Believe me: that's exactly what it was."
